Mass production of this practical yet effectively designed product will be relatively inexpensive and simple to accomplish using current production means and technology.
All portions of the “Johnny Bolt Snips,” except where noted, are made of alloyed steel.
The handles of the device are of a cylindrical design of an approximate five-inch length by half-inch diameter
(5” x 1/2 ”). Extending perpendicularly from their top point are flat-planed tabs of an approximate half-inch
1/2 ”) of length, and which attach to each other by bolt and nut.
Encasing these handles for approximately four and
one-half inches (4 1/2 ”) of their length are sleeves of
separate ergonomic designs. One (1) of the encasing
sleeves features finger indentations while the second
sleeve has an arced sidewall to enhance the grip a user
can apply upon these handles. These sleeves are made
of a low-density polyethylene (LDPE).
The center fulcrum point portion of the device consists of two (2) separate but attached portions,
each of which measures an approximate two-inch length by three-quarters inch width by half-inch
depth (2” x 3/4 ” x 1/2 ”). Near-centered arms extend from the interior planes of each these units to
allow them to be attached by nut and bolt through included apertures.
The endpoints of the linear planes of each of the two
(2) separate portions features a hollow indentation
within their sidewalls for an approximate half-inch
(1/2”) depth. An aperture for insertion of a nut and
bolt is featured upon each of the endpoints.
The apertures in the lower endpoints are for attachment
of this center fulcrum point upon the handles that insert
within the appropriate indentations. The apertures in
the upper endpoints are for its attachment of the head portion of the device.
This head is composed of two (2) arced segments,
the rounded walls of which form the exterior sidewalls, and which attach to each other at an interior-center
pivot point lever. Each of the interior planes of the craw formed by these head segments feature
angled indentations in lateral alignment to each other and form an open diamond shape when the craw
is closed.
